Wooden sitting Cambodian Buddha 19th century. Lacquered and gilded hard wood. H 76cm W 40cm D 22cm 15+kg Sitting on a multi layered throne, with the lower part of the base in a pyramid shape form, suggesting an architectural stone platform. A fine well carved double lotus base is seamlessly placed on top of the pyramid. The multiple folded banner in front with floral design, showing destinctive Khmer ornamentation. During the reign from 1841 to 1860 of king Ang Duong from Cambodia who spent 27 years in Bangkok from age 16 until aged 43, Cambodian art became influenced by Siamese art when the king started to gain much appreciation for the refinement of the Rattanakosin style with it's grandeur and royal radiance.
