René Denert - Jarrón - Cerámica

Tall and unique Art nouveau ceramic vase by René Denert (1872-1937) Elongated trees rise from the bottom of the vase, into an intricate branched end with notable pinecones. A typical Art nouveau view of nature artistically shaped. In excellent condition, Approx. Dim.: 12,5 dia x 28,7h Signed on the bottom René Denert was born on May 9, 1872, in Vitry-le-François (Marne), France. He married on August 16, 1897... his marriage certificate listed his profession as "ceramist." He was self-taught and, after several internships in pottery companies, went to work at "L'Hospied et Cie" in Golfe-Juan, a factory that produced both utility and decorative pottery and is still in operation today. When he returned to Vierzon, he was employed as a clerk in the "Bouvier" factory, which produced stoneware and majolica. Afterward, he opened his own studio on Rue Camille-Desmoulins, where he was assisted by his wife. In a small kiln, he fired his first majolica and white enamel decorative objects. His use of metallic glaze was characteristic of that period. René Denert was a true artist, friends with sculptor Dalou, architect Karcher, and porcelain manufacturer Marc Larchevêque. He taught at the École nationale professionnelle de Vierzon.
