Pterosaurio - Matriz fósil - Sinopterus - 52 cm - 43 cm

Sinopterus is a member of the Tapejaridae family, a group of toothless pterosaurs. Its typical feature is the large preorbital fenestra, and the upper jawbone develops a head crest that extends from the front to the back of the skull. In pterosaurs, this crest likely served functions such as species identification, sexual selection, thermoregulation, and social signaling. The head crest of this specimen has been perfectly preserved, which is an essential characteristic of Sinopterus. One of the manual digit IV (wing finger bones) is bent upward, and even the tip is completely preserved, as shown in the photos. The back of the matrix has been reinforced, so there is no need to worry about damage during transportation. This specimen is extraordinarily rare. The bones of pterosaurs — these exceptional flying reptiles — are typically light and fragile, making their preservation for tens of millions of years in sediment an exceptional occurrence. In most cases, even retaining the skull and torso is already considered remarkable. However, this specimen goes far beyond that: it perfectly preserves the phalanges, claws, and the tip of the wing finger bone, with no restoration anywhere on the body. There is no doubt that it ranks among the top 1% of all pterosaur specimens ever discovered. Accompanied by photos taken before and during preparation as proof of its fully original condition. I sincerely recommend this perfectly preserved and meticulously prepared pterosaur fossil to all collectors.
