Mid-19th-Century Pewter Teapot — Continental, c.1850–1870 Description Elegant antique pewter teapot with richly pressed decoration and a sculpted acorn and oak-leaf lid finial. The body shows alternating fluted panels with beaded ribs and floral/diamond motifs; the lid has a fine beaded rim. Curved handle with a heat-insulating white ring (bone/porcelain). Block-type pinned hinge in good working order. Hand-incised mark “B+” to the underside (workshop/journeyman mark). A characteristic Rococo/Second-Empire design typical of continental pewter from the mid-19th century. • Material: Pewter • Period: ca. 1850–1870 • Origin: Continental Europe (style consistent with French/Belgian work) • Mark: hand-scratched “B+” under base (no stamped maker’s hallmark) • Height (approx.): 12–13 cm to lid finial • Spout, handle and finial all present and secure Condition Antique condition with age-related wear: natural pewter patina, surface scuffs and small marks from use; crisp decoration; hinge sound; no modern repairs seen.
