Alexandri de Alexandro [Alessandro Alessandri] - Alexandri de Alexandro Dies geniales - 1522

Alexandri de Alexandro Dies geniales – Alexandri de Alexandro [Alessandro Alessandri] Romae [Rome]: Iacobi Mazochii, 1522. [6], CCLXXXV, [3] leaves. 28.5cm x 20.5cm. Newer full leather binding with blind stamped boards, and gilt lettered label on the spine which has 5 raised bands, and turquoise edges. First edition of this humanistic encyclopedia written in dialogue form. Comes with an engraved title frame and engraved initials throughout. Rubbing, bumping, soiling, and wear to the boards and spine. The spine is fraying a bit at the top and the pasted-on title label on the spine is damaged. Pen markings and remains of two stickers on the spine. Pencil markings on the front and back pastedown endpapers. Bookworm holes in the front and back endpapers, the first 10 pages, and the last 4 pages. Signs of a removed stamp or inscription on the title page and crossed-out writing at the bottom of the title page. Some pages in the front are reinforced with tape at the inner side. Occasionally some pen markings and writings in the margins throughout (for example from leaves LXIII-LXVI, CLV-CLVI, CLX-CLXII, see photos). The leaves from CXII-CXXXI are fixed with tape on the outer edge. Several pagination errors throughout, but the text is complete. Browning and spotting throughout as usual. The text is clear, and the binding is solid. Overall, and considering its age, a copy in good condition.
