The blade features a distinctive hooked tip, designed for gripping and pulling branches, stripping bark, and drawing cut limbs toward the user. This specialized form allowed for safe and efficient work, making it one of the representative tools used in Japanese mountain forestry. A blacksmith’s signature (kanji stamp) and the number “85” are visible on the blade.
