A rare and collectible lot of two signed and limited first editions by Kostis Bastias and Costas Taktsis (Tachtsis), two of the most important yet very different representatives of modern Greek prose. 1. Μηνάς ο Ρέμπελος, Κουρσάρος στο Αιγαίο (Minas the Rebel, Corsair in the Aegean) – Kostis Bastias Publisher: Pyrsos, Athens, 1939 Edition: First, numbered and limited to 1/30, here Nr. 7 – Hand-signed and dedicated by the author Pages: 346 | Dimensions: 18.3 cm × 13 cm Condition: Good vintage condition This historical novel marked the beginning of Bastias’s trilogy on Orthodoxy, later followed by Papoulakos and Papadiamantis. In 1940, composer Manolis Kalomiris adapted the work into a symphonic poem of the same name, further enhancing its cultural significance. 2. Η γιαγιά μου ή Αθήνα (My Grandmother Athens) – Costas Taktsis Publisher: Ermis, Athens, 1979 Edition: First, limited to 1/5000 – Hand-signed and dedicated by the author Pages: 197 | Dimensions: 20.5 cm × 14 cm Condition: Good vintage condition, minor signs of age An autobiographical collection of stories in which Taktsis blends inner poetry with vivid portraits of Athenian neighbourhood life. Playfully, he compares his grandmother’s flaws and manipulative charm to the complexities of the city itself. About the Authors Kostis Bastias (1901–1972): Writer, journalist, and cultural figure, Bastias was director of the Royal Theatre, the National Opera, and the National Radio Foundation. He also established key cultural institutions such as the State Literary Awards and the House of Letters and Arts. Costas Taktsis (1927–1988): A leading figure of post-war Greek literature, internationally acclaimed for his groundbreaking novel The Third Wedding Wreath.
