Daido Moriyama - Inu no Toki - 1995

Inu no Toki Daido Moriyama Sakuhinsha/1995/japanese/180*265*28 Inu no Toki" is a collection of works by Daido Moriyama, one of Japan's leading international photographers. The “Inu no” series compares him to a stray dog roaming the streets. Inu no Mokumei (Memories of Dogs), consisting of text and photographic illustrations from his serialization in Asahi Camera (1984 and 1998, including the last chapter), and, more recently, Dogs and Net Tights (2015), which consists entirely of vertical photographs. This book is one of his representative works of the 90s, created over a period of nearly a year, and began as a collection of works based on a request from Yutaka Kambayashi, who published “A Journey to Something” and “Nippon Gekijo” at Gekisha (publisher) as of 1995 and was in charge of editing at Opus Publishing at the time. It is a unique compilation of photographs taken in New York, Okinawa, and Tokyo, which intersect with each other. At the end of the book, there is an English-Japanese chronological record of his life from the ages of 26 to 45, which corresponds to the same period of time as the photographs included in the book. In addition, a separate volume contains a conversation with Takuma Nakahira, the first time since “Shashin yo sayonara” (“Farewell to Photography”). It is a gorgeous book well worth looking at.
