Kävelykeppi - .925 hopea - Viktoriaaninen 1897
A fine late Victorian blackthorn walking cane crafted in London in 1897, measuring 91 cm in length. The handle is formed from naturally grown blackthorn wood, shaped to follow its organic contours, with characteristic knots and textured surface that give each piece a unique, sculptural appearance. The rich honey-brown tone and polished finish highlight the natural grain and traditional craftsmanship.
The top is fitted with a plain metal collar, providing a subtle contrast to the rustic character of the wood. The shaft continues in the same natural style, typical of blackthorn canes, and is finished with a later protective ferrule for practical use.
This cane reflects the late 19th-century appreciation for robust, natural materials and skilled hand-finishing. It remains in good antique condition, showing minor surface imperfections and small historic woodworm holes, now inactive, all consistent with age and use and adding to its authenticity.
A classic and highly collectible example of a Victorian blackthorn cane, sought after for both its durability and distinctive appearance.
