In northeast China—particularly in regions such as Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Jilin—its fossils provide important evidence of how large mammals adapted to the harsh, steppe-tundra environments that dominated the area during glacial periods. Characterized by its thick fur, massive curved horn, and robust body designed to withstand frigid climates, the woolly rhino played a significant role in Ice Age ecosystems as a large grazing herbivore.
