Description:
A matched pair of French spelter figures with bronze patina, after Moreau, depicting a shepherd boy and a shepherdess, each accompanied by a dog. The figures are finely modeled, with detailed facial expressions, flowing garments, and carefully rendered animals. Both sculptures are mounted on circular marble bases. The pastoral subject and romantic style are characteristic of French decorative sculpture from the late 19th to early 20th century.
Both figures are marked “FRANCE”, indicating French manufacture. The pair dates to circa 1900.
Condition:
Overall in pretty good condition, consistent with age. There are two minor surface scratches: one on the knee of the shepherd boy and a small scratch to the dress of the shepherdess. The bronze patina is largely intact with normal light wear. The marble bases show minor signs of age but no cracks or significant damage. No visible restorations.
