The set includes a helmet, a half-face mask with throat guard, a cuirass with solid protection, skirt plates covering the lower body, large shoulder guards, arm guards, thigh guards, and shin guards. The helmet is fitted with a modern brass crest inscribed with “Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō (南無妙法蓮華経)” (“Devotion to the Mystic Law of the Lotus Sutra”), a devotional phrase symbolising unwavering faith and spiritual strength. This type of crest is famously associated with Mori Ranmaru, the loyal retainer of Oda Nobunaga, and evokes both religious devotion and the martial spirit of the samurai. The side flaps of the helmet are decorated with brass coin 'Kan’ei Tsuho (寛永通宝)', one of the most widely circulated coins of the Edo period. These coins were believed to attract prosperity and good fortune, making them auspicious decorations for armour. The armor shows visible signs of long use and age. There are scuffs, scratches, chips, cracks, surface wear, and discolouration to the lacquer. The fabrics display tears, small holes, fraying threads, stains, and general wear. The metal fittings exhibit rust, corrosion, and areas of flaking or deterioration. Overall, the condition is that of a heavily used antique. There can be part restored or changed. The wooden storage chest also reflects significant age, with cracks, missing sections, scratches, and heavy wear, though it remains marginally functional. Please review the photographs carefully to assess the details and condition. The stand is NOT included. Shipping will be handled by FedEx. Dimensions: approx.
