Nº 100116469

Emile Gallé - Vase - Vase en camée haut d'Émile Gallé “Houblon”, vers 1900 - 1905 - Verre
Pink to opaline ground with light-green overlays
Elegant conical vase with flared lip, in triply cased glass. The hop vine décor shows serrated leaves, twining tendrils and pendant hop cones in relief, created by acid-etching the green layers then finishing with a soft satin polish. Signed Gallé in relief on the lower body.
The hop motif was a favorite in Nancy, a region with a strong brewing tradition, and appears across Gallé’s naturalist repertory in the years around 1900. The fresh contrast of green against rose and white makes this one of the most attractive colorways for the “Houblon” décor. This is the large format of the model.
Height 29.5 cm
Condition very good, a few small surface marks and a fine scratch near the signature visible under raking light, no chips or cracks, the vase presents beautifully.
