Martin Parr - Fashion Magazine by Martin Parr and COLORS Issue No. 79 – Collectors - 2005-2010

For sale: Fashion Magazine by Martin Parr and COLORS Issue No. 79 – Collectors FASHION MAGAZINE Fashion Magazine is a photography publication / magazine-style book by Martin Parr, published in 2005 by Magnum Photos. It was released on the occasion of an exhibition at Le Bon Marché in Paris, and later also at Rocket Gallery in London. All photographs in the magazine were taken by Martin Parr himself, including advertisements, social portraits, and travel photographs. The magazine presents highlights from approximately a decade of Parr’s fashion work, supplemented with new work produced specifically for this publication. The photography offers a satirical, ironic, and playful view of the fashion world, using Parr’s well-known colourful style. The project was editorially directed by Laurence Benaïm, a trend and fashion journalist, with contributions from influential figures from the fashion and art worlds, including Christian Lacroix, Sonia Rykiel, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Victoire de Castellane, Tamsin Blanchard, and Paul Smith. The publication was conceived as a satirical, tongue-in-cheek magazine-style format in which all imagery was created by Parr himself, including what would normally be advertising and editorial fashion photography. From the outset, the publication was regarded as a special collector’s edition; because it was directly linked to the exhibition and produced in a limited run, it has acquired a distinct status among collectors of photography books and is considered a collector’s item. COLORS MAGAZINE ISSUE NO. 79: COLLECTOR COLORS was founded in 1991 by Oliviero Toscani and Tibor Kalman, driven by the belief that differences are positive and that all cultures have equal value. It was launched as a quarterly magazine and distributed internationally in numerous bilingual editions. The magazine was published up to issue No. 90, Football (2014). Although no longer published, COLORS remains part of the Benetton/Fabrica historical archives. The magazine has received international recognition from media around the world, including GOOD Magazine, which ranked it among the 51 best magazines of all time, and the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, which listed it among the most influential cultural magazines on the global stage. Issue No. 79, Collector, won the Silver Prize in the Editorial Design category at the 90th edition of the Art Directors Club. What makes this issue particularly special is that it includes part of Martin Parr’s collection of political memorabilia, along with eight postcards featuring photographs from his book Objects. The Colors magazine is in mint condition, the Fashion Magazine has minor bends to the top right corner of a few pages. Please see the photos for reference.
