« la fête » Édition 33/50 - Silkscreen - Masahiro Kasai 笠井正博 (b 1954) - Japon - Période Heisei (1989–présent)

Masahiro Kasai(笠井正博) – “La fête” – 1991 – Silkscreen – 33/50 Contemporary Japanese printmaker Masahiro Kasai (1954-) is known for his highly spiritual abstract works that utilize color and composition. This work, "La fête" (Festival), was created in 1991 and is part of a rare edition limited to just 50 copies. At the center of the work is a single, light-like point. The countless red trails that emerge from it resemble the moment fireworks burst into the night sky, or the explosion of energy as life multiplies at the cellular level. The title "fête" (festival) refers not to mere festivals, but to the moment when a person is born, when a star ignites in the universe, when energy amplifies and the world begins, the very joy of life itself. Behind this vivid expression lies Kasai's technical belief. While a successor to traditional Japanese printmaking techniques, he incorporates the compositional sensibilities of Western abstract painting, constructing his works as if "constructing space with color." In this work too, the multiple layers of red gradations create a three-dimensional effect that draws you into the depths of the canvas. (笠井正博 Masahiro Kasai, 1954–) Born in Nagano Prefecture in 1944. After graduating from the Department of Design, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, he has been active in the field of contemporary printmaking. Since the 1970s, he has held numerous solo exhibitions both in Japan and abroad and has received high praise. He is particularly known for his works themed around the rhythm of nature, such as "waves" and "water surfaces," and has collectors in Germany, France, the United States, and other countries.
