You are bidding on a very fine and rare antique italian violin. The instrument is in ready to play condition with tears, wears, but no visible cracks. The label says: Joseph Dall' Aglio fecit Mantuae anno 1837.
The violin has an excellent high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of softly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. The whole length of the violin is 595 mm and the back 358 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 163 mm; middle bouts: 111 mm; lower bouts: 204 mm. Good ebony set up, old master made bridge and new strings. Violins and bows described as 'certified' or 'attributed' include images of their certificates and are therefore considered to have a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin, and age than instruments described only as 'labelled' (violins) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we provide no guarantee of any kind.
