A Japanese Tokyo School bronze sculpture depicting a young mother walking with her child tied on her back.
The woman wears a soft kimono fastened at the waist with an obi. Her torso leans slightly forward to support the child, who reaches toward her and gently touches her face with one hand in an affectionate gesture. With her left hand, the mother softly caresses the child’s foot, lightly supporting it, while with her right hand she holds a traditional hat, finely crafted to reproduce the weave of straw.
The sculpture is signed along the edge and rests on a circular black lacquered wooden base.
Height of the bronze: 36 cm.
Weight: 3.7 kg.
