The body is made of clear, luxurious crystal with elegantly etched decorations of vines and leaves, typical of the transition between Art Nouveau and Art Deco. The silver-plated neck, spout, and decorative handle are richly ornamented with leaf motifs and full of unusual, graceful floral shapes, exquisitely crafted. The spout is made in the shape of a satyr's head (half man, half goat) is a companion of Bacchus/Dionysus, the god of wine and festivities. In the decorative arts, it symbolizes joy, abundance, seduction, and sensuality—themes that perfectly complement wine or liqueur tableware. The combination of a satyr head with floral motifs (such as the lily of the valley) is typical of the transition between Neo-Rococo and Art Nouveau, around 1895-1905.
