ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This artwork portrays Jinx, an iconic figure from contemporary pop culture, reinterpreted through my signature hand-cut stencil technique. Beyond her status as a fictional character, Jinx embodies themes of inner chaos, psychological tension, and emotional fracture, which strongly resonate with our era.
The intense red background is a deliberate choice. It evokes urgency, danger, and raw emotion, creating a visual pressure that surrounds the figure. This chromatic environment amplifies the tension between control and loss of control, reinforcing the character’s unstable and unpredictable nature.
The composition captures a moment of suspended intensity. There is no visible action, yet everything suggests imminent movement. Jinx’s gaze confronts the viewer directly, establishing an almost unsettling connection. This confrontation invites the observer to engage emotionally, not as a passive spectator, but as a witness.
Through stencil reduction, I strip the subject down to its essential visual language: sharp contrasts, fragmented lines, and rhythmic cuts. This process removes the anecdotal to focus on presence, impact, and immediacy. The balance between the raw, expressive background and the precise stencil work creates a tension that holds the eye and rewards prolonged observation.
This artwork is conceived as a unique original, positioned at the crossroads of street art, pop culture, and contemporary figurative art. It speaks to collectors who seek strong imagery, emotional charge, and a recognizable artistic identity.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alexandre Petrus is a French stencil artist known for his meticulous hand-cut technique and his distinctive visual language combining street art energy with graphic precision. He creates original artworks, murals, and live painting performances across France for private collectors, companies, and events.
His work explores the balance between spontaneity and control, repetition and uniqueness. Each artwork is entirely original: while stencils may be reused, backgrounds are always created intuitively, ensuring that no two pieces are ever the same. This approach reinforces the concept of originality within repetition, a central element of his artistic identity.
