The American oak, seasoned with sherry, adds a delicate vanilla note to the subtle spice of the European oak, resulting in a whisky with a smoother, warmer taste and a robust character. Like all single malt Scotch whiskies, The Macallan is made exclusively from malted barley. Distillation takes place at a single distillery, and bottling is done in Scotland. This distinguished single malt has matured for 15 years in American and European oak sherry casks.
