About the Author

Panos Th. Anagnostopoulos (1883–1964) was born in Gargalianoi, Messinia, and studied Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin. He served as:

Professor at the Averofion School of Larissa

Director of the Athens Arboricultural Station

Professor of Arboriculture, Horticulture and Floriculture at the Athens Agricultural University (1922–1954)

Rector of the University (1946–47, 1952–53)

His contribution to modern Greek agricultural science was decisive, particularly in the systematic study of olive cultivation.
