Finely crafted Hanau silver sugar tongs made by the renowned workshop J.D. Schleißner Söhne, one of the most important Hanau silversmith families of the late 19th century.
The piece is richly decorated in Rococo revival style, featuring ornate reliefs and a twisted handle.
The spoon-shaped tips are gilded (gold-washed).
Marked with “800” and the characteristic sickle-shaped maker’s mark attributed to Schleißner (ref. Scheffler, Goldschmiede Hessens, no. 446a).
Condition:
Very good, with light signs of age and use. Gilding intact. No repairs.
