A scarce and attractive mid-19th-century German songbook, Deutsche Lieder nebst ihren Melodien, published in Leipzig by Robert Friese in 1848. This volume contains a substantial collection of German patriotic, student, drinking, folk and popular songs, each printed with staff musical notation, making it both a literary and musical document of its time. The book opens with an engraved pictorial title page and is followed by a typographic title page listing the contents: I. Vaterlandslieder II. Burschen- und Trinklieder III.
