Eitaro Takano - Boîte/pot à thé - Grès - Rare pièce sculpturale Kogo

A rare sculptural Japanese ceramic incense container (kogo) by Eitaro Takano, created in the second half of the 20th century (c. 1960s–1970s). This work, titled “Gaku” (Peak), is characterised by its powerful mountain-like form and expressive ash-covered stoneware surface, formed naturally during high-temperature firing. The compact interior and lidded structure clearly indicate its intended use as a kogo rather than a vessel. Sculptural kogo of this level of abstraction and presence are uncommon, and examples accompanied by the original tomobako and cloth are particularly limited. The piece functions both as a refined tea ceremony object and as an independent ceramic sculpture with strong architectural character. Condition: Good condition with minor age-related wear. No cracks, chips, or restorations. The tomobako shows slight aging consistent with time. Shipping: Carefully packed and shipped from Japan with tracking. ※Important Information – Please Read Before Bidding※ Customs duties, VAT, and import clearance fees are not included in the shipping cost and are the responsibility of the buyer. These charges vary depending on your country’s import regulations and are beyond the seller’s control. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. All items are carefully packed and promptly shipped with tracking to ensure safe delivery. Please bid with confidence.
