Van Der Voort's influential reference work covers the construction and design of country houses ("buitenplaatsen"), based on his personal experience with his own country house, Berbice (Voorschoten). This work is notable for its impact on garden history, including the design of orangery and garden walls. It also covers topics such as the heating of glasshouses and the cultivation of pineapples, lemons, oranges, etc. Complete with all 15 engraved plates, the work is in period condition: several plates have small tears, with two plates exhibiting larger tears, all shown in the photographs.
