Boch Frères - Vase (2) - 822 - Faïence - Paire assortie
Pair of Boch Frères Keramis Art Nouveau Vases - Model 822 - Charles Catteau Era - Belgium 1920s-30s
A pair of Belgian Art Nouveau ceramic vases from the prestigious Boch Frères Keramis manufacture in La Louvière, Belgium. These elegant amphora-shaped vases (model/form 822) showcase the factory's signature glaze technique with beautiful turquoise-blue bodies transitioning to creamy white, adorned with exquisite Art Nouveau floral garland decoration.
Historical significance:
Model 822 was one of the classic amphora forms used by Boch Frères during their golden age and was frequently decorated by renowned designer Charles Catteau and his atelier during the 1920s-1930s.
These vases represent the transitional period between Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles—notice how the flowing organic garlands hint at the geometric patterns that would define the Deco movement.
Rare Matching Pair: Finding two matching model 822 vases is increasingly difficult, as most have been separated over the decades
Condition:
Overall very good vintage condition with vibrant, well-preserved original colors and glazing. The turquoise and white ombré effect remains stunning.
Please note: One vase has a chip to the rim (visible in photographs). This does not detract from display when positioned strategically. The second vase is in great condition with no chips or cracks.
