Hermès - Pull-over - Vintage

Hermès – Vintage knit sweater with silk insert, early 1990s Vintage Hermès knit sweater featuring a silk front insert produced from the iconic scarf design “Les Rubans du Cheval”, created by Joachim Metz and introduced by the maison in 1993. The garment represents Hermès’ early 1990s approach to ready-to-wear, where archival silk carré designs were selectively adapted into knitwear, resulting in pieces that were produced in limited quantities and are today considerably rarer than the original scarves. The silk panel displays a refined equestrian composition of ornamental ribbons, rosettes and harness motifs, arranged in a balanced and ceremonial layout emblematic of Hermès’ graphic language. Combined with a knitted body and sleeves, this construction reflects the maison’s emphasis on craftsmanship, material contrast and discreet luxury rather than seasonal fashion. Garments of this type were never mass-produced and are now primarily encountered in private collections, making them particularly desirable to collectors of archival Hermès ready-to-wear and silk-based designs. Condition: Vintage condition. The silk insert shows perspiration marks and small stains, clearly visible in the photographs. These signs of wear are consistent with age and prior use and have been fully documented. The condition has been taken into account and does not diminish the piece’s historical or collectible value. Era: early 1990s Designer (print): Joachim Metz Construction: knit sweater with silk front insert A rare and documented Hermès ready-to-wear piece, valued primarily for its design provenance, scarcity and archival significance, rather than condition alone.
