The book is a red cloth-bound volume of over 1000 pages (dimensions : 23,5 x 16,5 x 3cm) containing a large number of full-page colour plates (as well as black and white). All the colour plates are signed within the image by the illustrators. Illustrators represented include (among others): Harry Rountree (numerous), Cecil Aldin, Ernest Aris, Albert Morrow, Noël Harrold, Rosa Petherick, A.C. Michael, Stanley Davis, S. Abbey, H. Coller, Reynolds, Hickling, Brock, and others. It also contains photographs, as well as poems and longer stories, such as "The reputation of the upper fourth" and "Held in ice." The volume appears to date, I believe, from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. The binding is original and the plates are complete. Overall condition is very good internally, with age-appropriate wear; however the back cover is a bit damaged.
