One of the highlights of the early period of Ardbeg's renaissance following the distillery's takeover by Glenmorangie plc, Ardbeg 1975 showed a more elegant side to the distillery's character than the heavy duty smoky profile more associated with Ardbeg. A handful of small batches of Ardbeg 1975 were produced in 1999 and 2000 before the remaining casks were conserved for a string of extraordinary vintage single cask releases that followed in the early years of the new millennium.
