Antique Catholic devotional rosary dating to the 19th century, originating from Spain, reflecting Southern European Catholic folk traditions. The rosary is composed of dark hand-formed clay beads, showing natural wear, surface marks, and minor chips consistent with age and long-term devotional use. One of the larger beads shows a visible crack and an old restoration, where the bead has been carefully reattached. This is clearly visible in the photos and does not affect the overall structure of the rosary. The central medallion features a naïvely carved devotional face, typical of popular religious folk art of the period. The crucifix appears to be made of silver (unmarked and untested), with a dark black and grey patina characteristic of aged silver. The surface texture suggests hand casting, and the crucifix feels heavy for its size. Due to the absence of hallmarks, the metal cannot be guaranteed and is therefore described as silverplated The chain near the crucifix shows wear and requires repair, as visible in the photographs. No modern alterations. All visible wear, repairs, and patina are consistent with age and use. An authentic example of 19th-century Catholic folk devotion, originally intended for private household use, often kept behind the bed for protection.
