Unknown - Qur'an - Kashmir - 1820

A fine leaf from from a Qur'an of Kasmiri origin C1820, in very good condition for a manuscript 200 years old. the manuscript contains the final verses of chapter 11, Hud and the header for and first 7 verses of chapter 12, Yusuf (Joseph). The final verses of Hud emphasizes that Allah alone possesses absolute knowledge of the hidden, unseen, and future aspects of the universe, and that all matters ultimately return to Him for judgment. It commands believers to worship Him alone, place their trust in Him, and reassures them that He is fully aware of all actions. The first verses of Yusuf, introduce what the Quran calls the "best of stories" (Ahsan al-Qasas). It was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during the "Year of Sorrow" to provide comfort and hope, showing that, like Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), the Prophet’s own struggle against his people would lead to a triumphant, beautiful ending. The main themes of these verses include the divinity of the Quran, the purpose of hardship, the danger of jealousy, and the importance of trusting Allah's plan. The script is black naskh in a confident and clear hand. Simple gold aya mark out the verses. The header is unusual in that the title is within its own panel, flanked on the two sides with an arabesque device and white thuluth script. Gold lines divide the scripture for decoration and ease of use. Multiple frame lines surround the scripture. Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing. Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
