This is a vintage gilt display case / stand for a pocket watch in a classic European style. The main highlight is the gilt case itself: rather than a simple base, it is a small multi-faceted glass vitrine, designed to present a pocket watch upright like a decorative collectible.

Construction & materials: Clear, multi-faceted glass panels set in a gilt / gold-tone metal frame with decorative edging, giving it the look of a miniature display cabinet.
Opening mechanism: Hinged side door with a small clasp/latch on the front for easy opening and secure closure.
Decorative details: Textured/pressed metal top, ornate trim, and four decorative feet (leaf/scroll style), overall with a French/Victorian feel.
Interior presentation: Purple satin-like lining with supportive fittings so the pocket watch sits securely and is nicely displayed.
