ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Muhammad Ali” captures more than a boxing legend — it captures presence, conviction and unshakable identity.
Rather than portraying action in the ring, I chose a powerful close-up portrait. The direct gaze conveys confidence and mental strength. This is not a moment of movement — it is a moment of certainty.
Through my double-layer stencil technique, I sculpted the face using sharp contrasts and controlled shadows to emphasize expression and character. Every shape was digitally designed and manually hand-cut before being applied with spray paint, reinforcing the precision behind the apparent simplicity.
The textured blue-grey background was created instinctively, adding depth and atmosphere while allowing the portrait to dominate the composition. This balance between spontaneous abstraction and meticulous craftsmanship defines my artistic language.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork. While the stencil may reappear within my artistic exploration, each background is unique, ensuring that every piece carries its own energy.

Alexandre Petrus is a French stencil artist working at the crossroads of street art, digital creation and traditional craftsmanship. Based in the South of France, he designs his stencils digitally before printing and hand-cutting them with extreme precision.
His artistic approach is built around “originality in repetition”: the stencil can return, but the background is always spontaneous and unique. This dialogue between control and instinct shapes his visual identity.
He has created large-scale murals across France and performs live paintings for weddings and corporate events, bringing urban art energy into both public and private spaces.
