Koishiwara ware - Chawan - Grès - Émaillage au cinabre saisissant

A beautiful and highly expressive chawan crafted in Koishibata ware, featuring a sophisticated cinnabar glaze (Shinsya-yu), a technique that requires advanced control of kiln atmosphere and temperature. The bowl displays a vivid gradation of deep crimson, violet, and soft celadon-green tones. The flowing transitions of color, created naturally during firing, give the piece a dynamic and almost painterly presence. Each angle reveals a different nuance of the glaze, making it visually captivating. Cinnabar glaze is technically demanding and unpredictable, as the red tones are achieved through careful reduction firing. The result is never fully controllable, which makes each piece unique. The vibrant coloration and subtle depth seen here demonstrate a high level of glazing skill. The body is solid and reassuringly heavy for its size, providing excellent stability in hand. The foot is well-balanced and shows refined craftsmanship. Although the artist’s seal is partially covered by glaze and therefore difficult to read, the work suggests the hand of an experienced ceramic artist. No original wooden box is included. Dimensions: Height: 7.7 cm Diameter: 16 – 16.3 cm Weight (bowl only): 498 g Total packed weight: approx. 1000 g Condition: Excellent condition with no visible cracks or repairs. Please refer carefully to the photos. This is a striking and atmospheric tea bowl that combines technical mastery with expressive glazing. It would be a wonderful addition to a tea ceremony collection or as a display piece of modern Japanese ceramics. Shipping infomation: The item will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracking number to ensure safe delivery. Please note that any customs duties, import taxes, or additional charges that may arise are the responsibility of the buyer.
