Epée - Acier - Japon - Période Edo (1600–1868)

This piece is a very well-preserved and sound aikuchi koshirae tanto with very few flaws, rust, or chips. The jigane is a well-packed itame hada with yubashiri. The hamon is a very elegant looking, well-filled, thin, nioi suguha. Koshirae is in the style of aikuchi, and tsuka is dashizame (bare sharkskin). It has a very beautiful appearance with a sense of unity between the blade and the koshirae. We have priced this tanto at a very affordable price so we not only recommend it to fans of Japanese swords, but it is also a wonderful piece to give as a gift. Blade length: 23.6 cm Curvature: 0.0 cm Number of Mekugi hole: 2 Motohaba: 22.5 mm Motokasane: 5.8 mm Signature: No signature Era: Shinshinto Structure: Hira-zukuri Jigane: Itame Hamon: Hoso-suguha Boshi: Massugu Haitte Omaru ni Kaeru Weight: 130 g(blade only)/190 g(without Saya) Nakago: Suriage Koshirae: Aikuchi Koshirae, Dashizame Tsuka with Kuro-ro lacquered Saya Original Registration No.: Nagano 15692 Please note that without official certification, any attribution remains our professional opinion only. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This item will be shipped to you directly from Japan after the transaction is finalized. We will apply for an export permit from Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs and ship it once approval is granted. Please understand that this process takes approximately one month. Swords will be shipped by air freight (UPS or EMS) in most cases but, should air shipment to the winning bidder's country not be possible, it will be sent by sea. In Belgium, private sales of Japanese swords are prohibited by law, so bids from Belgium are not permitted.
