A large Japanese iron tsuba of round form with openwork decoration. One side of the plate features an openwork element that may be interpreted as fan-like or gunbai-like in design, together with an oval aperture and a central nakago-ana. The surface shows a dark brown to black patina with noticeable granular texture, age-related wear, oxidation, and small areas of roughness/pitting visible in the photographs. The rim also shows minor irregularities and wear. There are visible adjustment or working marks around the nakago-ana. The exact school, maker, and period of manufacture are uncertain, and the tsuba is therefore offered conservatively as a Japanese iron tsuba of uncertain period.
