ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Le Gorille” captures the silent strength and quiet intelligence of one of the most powerful animals in the wild.
The composition focuses on the face and upper body, drawing attention to the depth of expression in the gorilla’s gaze. There is a balance between power and calm — a presence that feels both imposing and deeply introspective.
The textured background, composed of cool turquoise tones and mineral greys, enhances the atmosphere of the piece. It evokes a natural environment while remaining abstract, allowing the subject to emerge with clarity and intensity.
Created using my signature double-layer stencil technique, the artwork was first digitally designed and then meticulously hand-cut before being applied with spray paint and acrylic. This process allows for a high level of detail in the fur and facial structure, while maintaining the raw, expressive energy of the background.
The contrast between the precision of the stencil and the spontaneity of the background reflects the duality present in the animal itself — strength and sensitivity, instinct and awareness.
