This personal photobook compiles photographs taken by Araki using his late father’s beloved Ikonta (Zeiss Ikon spring camera), a memento from his geta-maker father who was an amateur photographer. Shot between late 1980 and February 1981 until the camera broke, the images are presented mostly as contact sheets. They capture Araki’s everyday life, streets of Tokyo, nudes, bondage sessions, night scenes, and intimate moments with his characteristic raw and sensual style. The work reflects Araki’s early “I-photography” approach and his deep emotional connection to photography inherited from his father.
