Armoire - Teck - Verre rayé du milieu du siècle

Small display cabinet / bookcase in teak veneer with solid teak detailing, Denmark, circa 1960. Designer unknown — sourced directly in Denmark. A charming and highly versatile piece of Danish mid-century furniture. This compact cabinet combines storage and display in a form that is typical of the best Scandinavian design from the 1950s and 1960s: clean lines, warm materials, and thoughtful functionality. The cabinet features two drawers at the top with elegant brass bowtie-shaped handles, and a lower display section with two striped (frosted/etched) glass sliding doors — a decorative detail that was very popular in Scandinavian furniture of this era and adds a distinctive visual texture. Behind the glass doors is one fixed shelf, creating two compartments. The interior back panel is finished in black, providing a striking contrast that beautifully highlights displayed objects. The cabinet sits on four solid tapered legs, attached with metal mounting plates. Originally designed as a small bookcase or display cabinet, this piece works beautifully in a modern interior as a record cabinet, bar cabinet, hallway console, or media unit. Key features: — Teak veneer case with solid teak edging and detailing — Two drawers with original brass bowtie handles and dovetail joinery — Two striped (frosted/etched) glass sliding doors — One fixed interior shelf creating two display compartments — Black-painted interior back panel for contrast — Four solid tapered teak legs with metal mounting plates — Compact, versatile size Specifications: Designer: Unknown — Danish production Country of origin: Denmark Period: c. 1960 Material: Teak (veneer and solid), glass, brass Dimensions: 79.8 × 31 × 80.3 cm (W×D×H) / 31.4 × 12.2 × 31.6 in. Condition: Good vintage condition consistent with age (60+ years). The teak veneer is in very good condition with a warm, even colour and attractive grain. The top surface shows light wear marks. Both drawers slide smoothly and feature intact dovetail joinery. The glass sliding doors are in good condition — one panel has a small scratch visible in the frosted/etched area (see detail photo). The brass handles show gentle patina consistent with age. One small dent (approx. 1.5 cm) on the side of the cabinet has been filled with furniture wax to blend with the surrounding veneer (see detail photo). The tapered legs are sturdy and show minor wear at the feet. Black interior back panel in good condition. Overall a well-preserved and highly attractive piece. No significant repairs or restorations. Please refer to the detailed photographs for an accurate representation of condition. Shipping: Shipping available within Europe. The cabinet will be carefully wrapped and protected for transit. The glass sliding doors will be secured to prevent movement during shipping. Shipping costs depend on destination — please enquire for a quote.
