M. BosredonKit de ventouses - Verre, Carton, Acier
An exceptionally rare and museum-quality "Ventouse Aspirateur" set from the early 20th-century Parisian maker, M. Bosredon. This set represents a significant leap in medical safety, marketed as the "safe" alternative to traditional fire-cupping.
The set is uniquely complete, containing ten original hand-blown glass cupping bowls—all in unbroken condition—along with the original mechanical aspiration pump, the rubber tubing is present and unbroken but stiff with age. Housed in the original cardboard presentation box, the interior lid bears the full manufacturer's address (56 Boulevard St. Jacques, Paris) and detailed instructions for use.
Historical Significance:
This mechanical vacuum method was the "high-tech" solution of the time, allowing for precise control of suction without the risk of skin burns. A centrepiece for any serious collection of surgical or clinical history.
Condition:
Extraordinary. All ten glasses are intact. The pump mechanism remains functional, and the cardboard case shows age-appropriate wear.
