Crucifix - Régule, Bronze - 1850-1900 - Font d’eau bénite, Bénitier
A wall-mounted holy water font in cast spelter with a bronze finish, made in the Gothic Revival style in the late 19th century.
The cross features an elaborate ajouré openwork design, with flowing leaf and vine patterns across the arms and stem.
The corpus of Christ is cast in detail, with the INRI inscription on a banner at the top of the cross.
The lower section carries a hexagonal basin decorated with relief ornament.
A hanging ring is fitted to the back.
The spelter shows some wear to the bronze finish in places, though overall it looks good. The inner bowl has some limestone deposits and there are watermarks to the back, both of which could likely be cleaned. There is one small crack to the right side of the corpus, near the loincloth area. It holds firmly, is stable, and has no real effect on the piece, but it is noted for full transparency. Looks great overall.
