Voiture de course miniature - Bantam Midget “Spindizzy” — model car

Bantam Midget “Spindizzy” — model car 1930s | Design object | 1:8 scale (19″) In the 1930s, Spindizzies —also known as tether cars —were surprisingly advanced miniature racing cars. These models, built to a 1:8 scale, raced attached to a central pole or chain over wooden, banked oval tracks and reached speeds well over 150 km/h . They owed their name to that dizzying speed. Imagine a corner of the 1939 New York World's Fair : thousands of spectators gathered around a miniature autodrome. The engines scream, mechanics work intently on their cars. A miniature version of NASCAR, Le Mans, or the Nürburgring — pure American fascination with engineering, speed, and competition. Spindizzies were not toys. They were inspired by real racing cars and were hand-built by craftsmen and passionate owners, who often spent hundreds of hours on a single example. The result: objects where art and contemporary technology came together. This Bantam Midget Spindizzy model , built to original blueprints, is a magnificent example of this. With its traditional, hand-worked aluminium and brass body panels , combined with polished mahogany , it is an object with great presence. Open the hood and admire the replica engine. Turn the steering wheel and watch the front wheels move. Take a seat in your imagination — even the leather driver's seat exudes luxury and authenticity. With its length of nearly 50 cm , this model is a powerful statement piece for a study, library, office, or reception area. Dimensions Width: 22 cm Length: 48 cm Height: 18 cm An exceptional collector's item where motorsport history, craftsmanship, and nostalgia come together — high-tech nostalgia at its best .
