Description fournie par le vendeur
Original Willy Guhl “Modell 3100” Chair for Dietiker, Switzerland, 1959.
Offered is an exceptional and highly collectible original example of the iconic Model 3100 chair designed by Willy Guhl for Dietiker in 1959 – one of the most architecturally striking creations of Swiss Mid-Century Modern design.
What makes this model so extraordinary is its uncompromising geometric composition:
The sharply reduced black lacquered wooden frame contrasts beautifully with the warm woven cane surfaces, while the distinctly trapezoidal seat – narrower at the front and wider toward the rear – creates a dramatic sculptural silhouette and gives the chair its unmistakable architectural presence.
This bold interplay of proportion, line, and perspective is a hallmark of Guhl’s work and makes the Model 3100 far more than a functional chair: it is a true design statement.
Awarded the prestigious Swiss design prize “Die Gute Form”, the model is regarded as one of the most important Swiss furniture designs of the post-war period.
Condition:
• Original unrestored condition
• Structurally stable and ready for use
• Beautiful age-related patina
• Minor damage to the left side of the woven seat (visible in photos)
• Otherwise remarkably well preserved for its age
• Honest and authentic original condition throughout
