ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“L’Arbre” is a powerful and symbolic piece that reflects the fragile relationship between nature and humanity.
At first glance, the composition appears minimal and almost peaceful: a solitary tree standing in a textured, organic environment. But this calm is disrupted by a striking vertical red flow — a visual rupture that immediately captures attention.
This red drip can be interpreted as the tree bleeding, a metaphor for the impact of human activity on nature. It introduces tension, emotion and meaning into an otherwise balanced composition. The contrast between the soft, natural tones and this brutal red accent reinforces the message: something has been altered, disturbed, wounded.
The tree itself is treated with precision through the stencil, revealing intricate details that contrast with the raw, instinctive background. This duality — control versus spontaneity — is central to my artistic approach.
More than a representation of a tree, this artwork becomes a statement about vulnerability, resilience and the silent consequences of human presence on the natural world.
Created using my signature double-layer stencil technique, each element is digitally designed and meticulously hand-cut before being applied with spray paint and acrylic, ensuring a unique and unrepeatable result.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alexandre Petrus is a French stencil artist known for his distinctive visual language, combining the raw energy of street art with the precision of hand-crafted technique.
Working exclusively with hand-cut stencils, he has developed a recognizable and refined signature style, where every line is carefully designed and manually executed. His work stands at the intersection of digital creation, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary urban art.
What defines his approach is a unique balance between control and spontaneity. While the subject is meticulously constructed through layered stencil work, the background is created instinctively, making each piece truly one of a kind. This philosophy — which he defines as “originality in repetition” — ensures that no artwork is ever reproduced or duplicated.
His creations explore a wide range of themes, from wildlife and human emotion to pop culture and classical reinterpretations, allowing his work to resonate with a broad international audience.
Over the years, Alexandre Petrus has built a growing base of collectors across Europe and internationally, attracted by the uniqueness, consistency and strong identity of his work.
Each artwork is an original piece — no prints, no editions — making every acquisition a unique and exclusive addition to a collection.
