ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In this piece, I reinterpret one of the most powerful sculptures of classical antiquity: the Laocoön Group. A symbol of struggle, tension and human vulnerability, this iconic scene is transformed here through a contemporary urban lens.
The composition captures the dramatic intensity of the original: intertwined bodies, muscular tension and a moment frozen between resistance and inevitability. Through my stencil technique, I simplify and reconstruct the forms, creating a new visual language that oscillates between precision and abstraction.
The figures appear almost sculpted by light, emerging from the canvas through sharp contrasts and layered cuts. The hand-cut stencil work enhances every muscle, every movement, translating the original marble into a graphic and modern interpretation.
The background, built instinctively with textures and layered colors, introduces a vibrant turquoise atmosphere, disrupted by bursts of yellow. These elements bring energy and unpredictability, contrasting with the rigidity of the classical composition. It creates a dialogue between past and present, between the timelessness of myth and the immediacy of street art.
