Hand-thrown by renowned potter Richard Champion at his North Devon studio near the village of Monkleigh, this piece features the artist’s signature "imaginary dream elements." The décor consists of whimsical, hand-painted botanical motifs in muted tones of olive green, sienna red, and burnt umber against a creamy off-white background. The scalloped edges and concentric blue-grey bands add a playful yet sophisticated touch to this unique artisanal piece. Richard Champion’s Monkleigh Pottery is celebrated for its distinctive hand-painted slipware and imaginative designs. His work from the 1980s and 90s has gained significant interest among collectors of contemporary British ceramics for its expressive line work and tactile quality.
