The Montiano red wine is the fruit of one of the most innovative estates in central Italy. The Cotarella family has been a key player in the Italian wine scene for decades, thanks to the winemaking expertise of brothers Renzo and Riccardo. The estate is managed by the new generation, who continue the tradition with passion and expertise. The Merlot grapes come from the estate's approximately 15-year-old vineyards, located in Montefiascone and Castiglione in Teverina at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. The soils are of ancient volcanic origin, rich in minerals and gravel. Harvest takes place in the first weeks of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with a 12-day maceration on the skins and a 15% draining of the must. The wine ages for 12 months in new French oak barriques from Allier and Never.
