Grey cloth binding with gilt lettering elaborate gilt illustrations to spine and front board. All edges gilt. General wear to exterior, as shown, with light discolouring to edges, some marks and scuffs, corners and spine ends bumped. Inner joints cracked and boards slightly loosened, rear inner joint beginning to split, as shown. Lacking half title. Frontispiece recto with previous owners ink inscription. Pages are complete with 32 plates, as called for. Numerous illustrations throughout the text, a handful of illustrations with crude colouring by a previous owner. Age toning and a few little marks otherwise pages are generally clean as shown.
