Introducing an original abstract composition by NO1R, part of the series “Between Impulses”, a body of work that explores the space between action and restraint, instinct and awareness. This artwork is 100% hand painted on cotton canvas.

This series is built around moments of internal tension, those suspended states where movement is imminent but not yet defined. Rather than representing a fixed idea, each work investigates the psychological threshold where opposing forces coexist, creating a visual language that reflects uncertainty, balance and transformation.

Titled “Threshold”, this piece embodies that precise moment of transition. A warm gradient shifting between red and yellow creates a field of intensity and latent energy, while a central spherical form introduces a sense of focus and suspended awareness.

Black structural elements divide the space, acting as visual anchors that bring balance and tension. Cutting through this structure, a dynamic painted gesture introduces movement and flow, reinforcing the dialogue between control and impulse.

Painted entirely by hand on cotton canvas, the artwork combines acrylic paint with spray techniques, using brush and spatula to build layers, depth and texture. The surface reveals both precision and raw expression, where each mark contributes to the overall tension of the piece.

As part of the “Between Impulses” series, this work exists within a state of becoming, a threshold where direction has not yet been fully defined, but is already in motion.
