Israel 5 Lirot 1958 – 10th Anniversary of Independence – Silver Commemorative Coin
Description
A beautiful silver commemorative coin issued by the Bank of Israel to mark the 10th Anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel, dated 5718 (1958). One of the earliest and most iconic issues in the Israeli commemorative series, this coin holds both historical and numismatic significance.
The obverse features a bold and elegant stylised seven-branched Menorah — the ancient symbol of Judaism and the national emblem of Israel — rendered in a striking modernist design within an incuse trapezoid field. The Menorah is among the best-known symbols of Judaism, found on coins from the period of the Hasmonean rulers, and adopted by the State of Israel as its national emblem, symbolic of a return to the glory of ancient days. (Numista)
The reverse displays the denomination "5 Israeli Lirot" in Hebrew alongside the country name in both Hebrew (ישראל) and Arabic (إسرائيل), with the dual dating תשי"ח / 1958.
